Scholarly Areas: School-based teen pregnancy prevention programs have been my area of publication. Recently, I am involved with bringing evidence-based nursing practice to rural healthcare.
Biography: I have worked in various clinical and educational settings. I have experience in the ICU & ER settings as a trauma/critical care nurse in Texas and California. I completed a Trauma Nurse Internship in Critical Care from Parkland Memorial Hospital in 1996. Following graduate school, I worked for 9 years as a school nurse. Since 2004, I have worked in nursing education teaching courses in community health. I became the RN-BS in Nursing Program Coordinator for SDSU-Imperial Valley Campus in July 2007. I am excited about helping enhance nursing in the Imperial Valley through advanced health assessment, leadership and integration of evidence-based practice.
