Biography: In 1969 I began my nursing career in the US Navy. I served 2 1/2 years at Balboa Hospital in San Diego as a critical care nurse. After leaving the Navy I spent two years as a hemodialysis nurse and home health nurse before taking six years off to start a family. As my husband, Dan, was a Navy dentist, we moved often and far (Okinawa, Bethesda, MD, Bremerton, WA) before settling in San Diego where I began my teaching career at SDSU.
I have had the privilege of teaching at SDSU for 26 years where I was course coordinator for NURS 252 (Nursing Practice II, formally Stress and the Health Continuum)for 24 of those years. In Spring of 2008 N. 252 was discontinued when the curriculum was changed from a 6-semester program to a 5-semester program.
Not ready to retire (but ready to slow down),I am teaching in the new nursing education concentration. I am excited and proud to lend my expertise in teaching to those individuals who see this career avenue as rewarding and challenging. For those of you who think teaching might be in your future, please feel free to contact me.
