Graduate Record Examination (GRE) All applicants are required to take
the GRE prior to admission. For further information about this examination call
the SDSU Test Office (619-594-5216). Exam scores are to be sent directly to
SDSU from the Educational Testing Service (http://www.ets.org/).
The institution number for SDSU is 4682. If you already have a Master's or higher
degree from an institution that is a member of the Council of Graduate Schools,
you are not required to take the GRE.
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)

Three letters of recommendation are required from individuals who can attest to your promise as a graduate student and who can address the quality of your professional work and future potential (forms attached to the application). Preferably you should select two letters of recommendation from former/current educators and one letter from an employer/work supervisor.
Personal Statement
Submit a personal statement that addresses your purpose in pursuing graduate education, motivation derived from past experiences, and future professional goals. This is your opportunity to describe your special characteristics or skills and to articulate how your goals are compatible with the program to which you are applying for. Your ability to write clearly and to effectively demonstrate logical expression of ideas will be evaluated in your personal statement. The personal statement must be typed, double spaced, and should not exceed two pages.
Transcripts
You must submit one set of official transcripts to Graduate Admissions (see address below) from each issuing institution. This would include all degree transcripts and a transcript from the last institution attended. Your transcripts must reflect the last 60 semester (90 quarter) units attempted. Students with international coursework must submit all official transcripts and proof of degree. If certificates and transcripts are not in English, they should be accompanied by certified English translations.
