The purpose of the Advanced Practice Nursing (APN) of Adults and Elderly Concentration
at SDSU School of Nursing is to prepare experienced professional nurses
as adult and geriatric nurse practitioners (NP) and clinical nurse
specialists (CNS) in acute or critical care. Students are educated
to manage the health care of adults and elders across clinical practice
settings. The program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate
Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the California Board of Registered
Nursing for NP and CNS education. Upon graduation students may apply
for NP and CNS certification in California and are eligible to sit
for various national certification examinations.
