Advanced Practice Nursing of Adults & the Elderly

This concentration prepares students to provide a scope of services of adults and elders across the health wellness-illness continuum.

The Advanced Practice Nursing of Adults & the Elderly concentration, with specialization in Acute/Critical Care Nursing, consists of two focus options:

  • Focus in Nurse Practitioner (NP) and Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)
  • Focus in Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) and Nurse Educator (admissions currently suspended)

Focus in Dual Nurse Practitioner (NP) and Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Preparation

The program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing for NP and CNS education.

Upon graduation students may apply for NP and CNS certification in California. All graduates are eligible to apply for national Adult/Gerontology Primary Care NP certification and national Acute and Critical Care or Adult-Gerontology CNS certification.

Focus in Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) and Nurse Educator (NE) Preparation

(admissions currently suspended)

The program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing for CNS education. 

All graduates meet requirements for CNS certification in California and are eligible to apply for national Acute and Critical Care or Adult-Gerontology CNS certification.
