Please note that the instructions below are for applicants to the program at the San Diego campus only.
Prospective students must apply to both San Diego State University and the School of Nursing. Admission to the School of Nursing is contingent upon admission to SDSU, and successfully completing the RN to BS in Nursing program admission criteria. A current California RN license is required of all students by the start of the program. For information about prerequisite courses and grade requirements, consult the School of Nursing Undergraduate Information Bulletin.
The School of Nursing requires a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.2 for admission consideration to the RN to BS program. An incomplete or inaccurate application cannot be processed or considered for admission.
Second Bachelor’s Applicants:
- Students with a bachelor’s degree in another field are encouraged to apply! The undergraduate general education and international experience requirements may be waived, or the applicant may qualify for admission to the MS in Nursing program. I. Application to San Diego State University
The online application to San Diego State University is available online Oct. 1- Nov. 30 at Cal State Apply. Applicants planning on a nursing major should apply for admission to the university as a “Nursing” major. There is an application fee associated with this process.
Applications require official transcripts and other supporting documents required by the university. These must be submitted directly to:

II. Application to the School of Nursing
- The online application to the School of Nursing (form below) requires you to list dates of all schools attended, and pre-requisite courses. You may edit within your session, but there is no way to edit once the application is submitted. Please prepare this information before you enter the application.
- For entrance into the following FALL term, online applications are accepted beginning October 1st, and must be received by November 30th. Late applications will not be considered nor evaluated.

III. Health Requirements
Once admitted to the School of Nursing, students will be required to complete a background check and meet health compliance requirements, before attending clinical.
