Philip A. Greiner, DNSc, RN served as professor and Director of the School of Nursing from 2012 until 2021. During his tenure the School of Nursing implemented a new 120 credit unit curriculum to meet CSU mandates and direct admission to the BSN program. These changes increased the four-year graduation rate and doubled the applications to the nursing program. He served on the University Senate and numerous university level search committees. During his years at SDSU, he brought in over $7 million in federal grants. Dr. Greiner was active in the California Association of Colleges of Nursing (CACN), serving as President and in numerous leadership roles within CACN. He was appointed or elected to several key positions within the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) including to the Board of Directors and as an Emeritus Member.
