Bio
Associate Professor Dr. Judy Dye is an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Researcher who currently serves as the Associate Director for Graduate Nursing Studies at the San Diego State University (SDSU) School of Nursing. Dr. Dye brings extensive clinical expertise in primary care, with a particular focus on women’s health and underserved populations.
She earned her Ph.D. in Nursing from the University of Arizona, specializing in the health and well-being of vulnerable populations. Dr. Dye also holds a master’s degree from SDSU, where she was trained as an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner and an Acute/Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist.
Dr. Dye’s research interests include deployment-related injuries in military personnel, military women’s health, and resilience and coping mechanisms across diverse populations. Her scholarly work has been published in Military Medicine, The Journal of Trauma, and the New England Journal of Medicine.
A distinguished military veteran, Dr. Dye served 33 years in the U.S. Navy Reserve Nurse Corps, retiring with the rank of Captain. She completed deployments aboard the USNS Mercy in 2008 and to the NATO Role 3 Hospital in Kandahar, Afghanistan, in 2012. Her leadership roles in the Navy included serving as Commanding Officer of Expeditionary Medical Facility Great Lakes and as Deputy Force Surgeon for Reserve Medical Readiness with Naval Medical Forces Atlantic.
